Along with the Burg, the markt is one of the biggest tourist attractions. It is the heart of Brugge and a place where you will always see lots of tourists. Most of the bests sights are in a short walking distance from the square. The sculpture in the center of the Markt is a pair of Flemish heroes, Jan breydel and weaver Pieter de Coninck. They led an uprising in 1302 against wealthy merchants and nobles. The Craenenburg was used to imprison Prince Maxillian of Austria. This castle like building is now a lovely restaurant in the Markt.The Markt
